MTN Mobile Sales Force Management

Customer Touchpoints

The MTN Sales Force Enabler solution is an end-to-end hosted offering comprising of 3 major components:

  • Web Portal
  • Back-end Database Server
  • Application on Mobile device (cell phone)

The aim of the solution is to provide the sales force with the means to work, Anytime, Anywhere on Any Approved Mobile Unit. Both the web portal and mobile device are used to populate and retrieve information from a secured database server. The Web portal serves as a back-end tool used by in-office managers to load, update and view all the information relating to customers, products and sales representatives, including:

  • Customer information
  • Customer previous order history
  • Customer latest orders and quotes
  • Product details
  • Warehouse on-hand product lists
  • Latest product pricing details
  • Competitor information

In addition to the above, the Web portal also serves as a tool for generating reports relating to issues like product sales, product orders, customer order lists and more.

For the Sales Force Enabler Web portal, three classes of user are provisioned:

  1. Administrator
    The Administrator populates the database with the relevant information, sets permissions, manages data tables and runs report.
  2. Normal
    The Normal (portal) user like a manager, retrieves relevant information from the system, sets filters, call assignments and diaries. Note that the Mobile user can also have limited permission rights through the Portal e.g. personal diary setting.
  3. Mobile
    The Mobile user operates through a combination of functionality embracing drop-down lists, free format comment fields and multi-media with emails being automatically generated by the management software when specific business rules, such as Red Flags, are triggered on the server.

The back-end database server of the solution offering serves as a tool for the storing of all relevant data and information that the users input via the Web Portal. As the solution offering is hosted, no extra hardware or servers are needed by customers in order to operate it.

The application on the mobile device allows for the sales personnel on the road to have on-line access to back-end systems and update information regarding any sales call on their mobile phones. Further to the above, the mobile application also allows mobile sales personnel to:

  • Place orders
  • Record/Log red flag issues per customer or per product
  • Record competitor information
  • View latest available products
  • View customer order history
