A cookie is generally a tiny data file that resides on your computer, mobile phone, or other
device, and allows MTN to recognise you as a user when you return to the MTN online store
website using the same computer and web browser.
There are different types of cookies. Here are two examples.
A “persistent” cookie – this cookie is set once you’ve logged on to a website. The next time
you visit the website, the persistent cookie will allow the website to recognise you as an
existing user or registered user so you will not need to log in before using the services.
However if you wish to access or change any of your payment information (like a credit
card number) or your registered information, you must log in securely again with your
password, even if your computer contains a persistent cookie.
A “session” cookie – this cookie is used to identify a particular visit to a website. Session
cookies expire after a short time or when you close your web browser.
You can remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser, but in some cases
doing so may impact your ability to use the website.
MTN Business Insights explores some of the more unusual ways in which innovative thinking and smart technologies can make a positive impact.
In March we explored five ways in which drones are making businesses more effective, particularly in industries like security and agriculture. Don't miss the fascinating video we shared, it might fuel some ideas for your own business.
The rhino project we're launching in early 2017 will see us partnering with IBM to use the Internet of Things to track the movement and direction (and even the speed) of different species. Find out how our tech will combat rhino poaching in the video we released in May this year.
But MTN Business Insights' scope of interest isn't just limited to technology. We're always keen to learn about and share stories about brave entrepreneurs and young minds who are finding new growth opportunities through innovative thinking. And 2016 offered up quite a few gems.
We tracked the meteoric rise of intern Phumla Malishe to MTN Loyalty & Retention specialist in just one year. She shares her secret to success in a podcast we shared in April.
Amazingly, South Africa's cultural hub and world-famous township only saw its first coffee shop established this year.
When Kofi Afrika opened its doors in Soweto, there was no competition, but there wasn't a coffee culture either, so it hasn't been plain sailing for founder Mpumelelo Zulu. Watch the video we shared in June to hear about his business challenges, as Mpumelelo's courage and vision is inspiring.
We also caught up with Dragon's Den SA judge Vinny Lingham. Hear the tech guru and business visionary's three crucial tips on grinding out growth in our interview with him.
Taking the gaps won't be easy in a year that promises to be a highly competitive for South African businesses. But fear, as they say, is our worst enemy. If you're ready to grow, learn how to do it fearlessly in five steps.
(It might also interest you to know which digital tools the top entrepreneurs in the country are using to work smart and stay on top…)
We're now offering mid-career professionals and entrepreneurs the chance to further their studies as MTN scholars. In partnership with the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, we're looking for people who want to strengthen their leadership capacity in the technology, media and telecoms industries.
But if all you need is a helping hand in this bold, new world of connectivity, where digital is the edge, take a look at the video on our dedicated internet offering, explained in under two minutes.
